Umaid Bhawan
It is one of the world’s largest private residences and is also a pride of Jodhpur. It is managed by none other than the famous Taj Hotels group. The hotel got its name from Maharaja Umaid Singh, the grandfather of the present owner Gaj Singh. The palace has three hundred and forty-seven rooms. It is one of the most important places to visit in Jodhpur. The palace has also been the wedding destination of many famous people.
Jaswant Thada
It was built by Maharaja Sardar Singh of Jodhpur State. It is a cenotaph which is located in the state of Jodhpur. It serves as the cremation ground for the royal family of Marwar. This beautiful mausoleum is also known as the Taj Mahal of Mewar. The lakeside location of the Jaswant Thada makes it a serene place. The place is very famous for its relaxing atmosphere and visited by so many people as a place to bask in fresh and beautiful air.
Khejarla Fort
In 1611 A.D.this famous fort was built for Maharajah Gopal Das Ji. The Khejarla was ‘Jagir’ granted to him for his victory against the Mughals. The fort was attacked thrice by the Mughals and it was rebuilt thrice as a result. The name of the fort is taken from tree called khejri. The fort is situated amidst of rural background has its own historical significance. It is a symbol of the loyalty and the valour of Rajput clans. It is one of the attractions of Jodhpur sightseeing.
Balsamand Lake
Balsamand Lake is a beautiful lake situated five kilometres away from Jodhpur. It was designed as a reservoir to serve the people of Mandore and Jodhpur. Even the flora and fauna around the lake is very beautiful and attractive. There is Balsamand Palace on the side of the lake which is also one of the famous points of attraction in Jodhpur. This place is visited by so many people from all around the world.
Kaylana Lake
Kaylana Lake is an artificial lake and was built in 1872 by Pratap Singh. It is also one of the important places to visit in Jodhpur. The lake is located only 8 km from Jodhpur. The lake sprawls over an area of eighty two kilometres square. Every year in winter the lake welcomes beautiful Siberian cranes. It is a great hanging spot for bird watchers. There is also a famous Shiv Mandir in the surrounding of the lake. Anyone who goes to Jaisalmer from Jodhpur usually stops by here.
Mahamandir Temple
The temple was built in 1812 and comprises eighty four pillars. The temple has a beautiful hall where Yoga classes are conducted. The temple has beautiful architecture. The temple has beautiful murals, paintings, and carvings on its walls. The temples also have beautiful yogic posture depicting the yoga poses of Shiva. The temple is three kilometers away from Mehrangarh and four kilometers away from Jodhpur junction.
